Where are you currently based/ training with?

I am training with Tom & Greg McDermott

Were horses always part of your life?

Yes, they have always been a part of my life. Mum has always been into horses too so growing up I’ve always been around them!

Describe a typical day for you.

I get up just after 7am and am on my first horse by about 8, I’m not a morning person person at all! I ride pre-trainers in the morning and then move to the jumpers in the afternoon. I ride my own horses after work or at lunchtime. They are long days and I’m rarely off a horse but I love it and wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. At shows, I’ll ride my own and work for Tom!

What horses are currently on your team, do you have any exciting young horses coming through?

I currently have Romeo “YPH CAPULET”, Princess “Diamond B Corvina” & my 5-year-old Noddy “Disco Volante VS” on my team! Another one coming through is a 5-year-old Josh Collins has been nurturing – Glenara Starbucks also known fondly as Bart. He looks pretty special and I’m really looking forward to riding him.

My mum has also bred some more young horses and there are some exciting ones coming through.

What are your expectations for the 2023 competition season?

I just want to improve and give my horses a good ride each round. I try to fix up mistakes I may have made and really learn from them to do better each time. Sometimes it goes to plan sometimes it doesn’t. I just keep looking ahead.

Describe your long-term equestrian goals…

I just want to improve my riding and be a useful rider. I would love to go overseas at some stage when I’m ready to see what that is like but otherwise I love being here at home and working on my horses here, I would also love to work on my young ones and learn more about that.

What are 3 essential items packed in your tack box for every show?

Chocolate for me,  liquorice for the horses before and after classes and my beautiful Penelope gear.

Do you have a favourite Penelope Store Australia Product?

I love all Penelope products, however, my favourite would have to be my black Diamanté Saddle pad!

How do you overcome the challenges you face within the sport?

I’m pretty good at just looking ahead and not dying in a ditch on the bad days and most of the time I think I can handle pressure pretty well. It wakes me up a bit and focuses me on the job I’ve got to do.

Do you have a routine/any superstitions before a competition?

Just to be organised with my horses & to make sure they are happy. Sometimes I I am a little superstitious about the things on competition days and the routine I have to follow. It drives Mum mad!

What is your favourite aspect of the sport?

I like to see my own and my horse’s progress! They are all so different and need different rides and need to be managed differently. I like trying to understand each one and working out what each different horse needs to feel confident and happy.

Greatest competition highlight?

My biggest highlight would have to be my horse Princess winning the Australian Showjumping Championships Junior Title & then following up last year by winning the ASJC Young Rider title!

Do you have a favourite quote or saying?

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do” – PELE

What advice would you give your younger self?

Just to take everything day by day!

What is your favourite competition or location to compete at?

I love competing at all shows, especially SJA & Stonewall

When you’re not riding what do you get up to?

Most of the time I am riding but when I’m not, catching up with family & friends and sleeping.
